Liu Yifei was born in Tongji Hospital in Hubei,the Chinese Animal Zodiac is Rabbit.
Her birth name was "An Feng".She is an only child. Her father is An Shaokang (安少康), a 1st Secretary in the Chinese Embassy in France and a French language university professor, while her mother is Liu Xiaoli (劉小莉), a dancer and a stage performer.
Liu Yifei's mother watched the movie "Sissi" when she was pregnant, so she gave Liu Yifei the nickname "Xi Xi".
When Liu Yifei was 4 years old (Liu Yifei said), her parents divorced. That same year, she adopted her mother's surname and changed her legal name to "Liu Xi meizi"(劉茜美子).
Maternal grandmother gave the "Xi meizi" name.
In 1995 only 8-year-old Liu Yifei to participate in China and South Africa are the second "flower child Cup" model children's Grand Prix title.
When she was 11 years old (Liu Yifei's mothers said：1998), Liu Yifei and her mother moved to New York City, Liu Yifei lived there for four years. In those four years she went to Middle School 67 Louis Pasteur.
She returned to China in 2002 to pursue an acting career and adopted the stage name "Liu Yifei" (劉亦菲). Several weeks later, Liu was accepted into the Performance Institute of Beijing Film Academy at the age of 15, and graduated in 2006.
Godfather gave her the "Yifei" name.Her godfather is Chen Jinfei (陳金飛), the Chairman of Beijing Tongchan Investment Group (北京通產投資集團).

Her debut appearance on television was in The Story of a Noble Family. Shortly after, she was chosen to play 'Wang Yuyan"(王語嫣) in "Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils"(天龍八部).
In 2005, Liu Yifei starred as "Zhao Linger"(趙靈兒) in "Chinese Paladin"(仙劍奇俠傳), an adaptation of the action RPG The Legend of Sword and Fairy.
The following year, she starred in "The Return of the Condor Heroes"(神鵰俠侶), a television series adapted from Louis Cha's novel of the same title.
In conjunction with her acting career, Liu Yifei obtained a recording contract with Sony Music Entertainment Japan in August 2005 and has studied singing and dancing in Japan since then. She released her first single "Mayonaka no Door" with Sony Music on July 19, 2006.
In 2008, she co-starred with Jet Li and Jackie Chan in "The Forbidden Kingdom"(功夫之王), in which she played Golden Sparrow, an orphan seeking revenge against her parents' killer.
Liu Yi Fei encountered a problem between 2008 -2009.She temporary stop two years without filming.Then go to United States continue studying.
In 2010, she starred in "Love in Disguise" with Leehom Wang.
In 2013,Liu Yifei to win Golden Lotus Award for Best Actresss from "The Assassins" in 5th Macau International Movie Festival.
January 2014,Liu Yifei wax figure in Madame Tussauds museum in Wuhan.
